This bat adapter is suited to any 350mm wheel head. I built this around Shimpo wheel heads, but it will fit to any 14 inch wheel head between 350-353mm in diameter - with no pins required. (If you have a 11-<14 inch wheel with 10 inch bat pins, then this system can also be used.)

This is the last bat system that you will ever need! It fits every square bat between 203.8mm (8 inches) all the way down to 165mm. This system accepts bats you already own, ones found locally or from the internet. You can also cut plaster sheet yourself or just use cheap bathroom tiles! The main intention for this system is to make it useable anywhere in the world using readily available bats.

This design makes the bat grip the wheel head and pull itself to perfect centre every time. The internal shape allows the bats to be spun (clockwise) for anti clockwise throwers or vice versa. This will centre the bat perfectly every time with your piece exactly the way it was when you removed it.

This allows you to throw the pot, leave it unwired, return the next day and place it back in the adapter with it centered for trimming straight away. Finish trimming, wire off, and place a chuck made to a bat on the adapter and trim in the foot, all within 30 seconds. This allows for a much faster production process for small producers.

For teaching studios, this adapter can all be used to pre-center clay on bats for introductory and event classes to help give the participants a much more enjoyable first experience.

The adapter is made from recycled, food grade High Density Poly Ethelene (HDPE). This item is completely recycled and recyclable. This a class 2 plastic and can be placed in standard recycling. HDPE is extremely strong, with a high tensile strength. This item can be dropped stepped on, soaked in slip bucket for 6 months, then left in the sun for another 6 months.

Technical bit: To measure and check your wheel is suitable, take a pencil and 300mm ruler. Spin your wheel and find dead centre by marking it with the pencil. Line the 0mm of the ruler up on the very edge and check that it measures 175-177mm on the pencil mark. If it does, you are in business.

If your wheel head does not fit this adapter and you have a different size, then I would love to hear about it. I am going to do a bigger manufacturing run soon and will be including sizes for different wheels from around the world, especially for Brents, Vencos and Rohdes. An accurate measurement or even a photo would be appreciated.
